Calvary Baptist Church and First Congregational Church, both in Parkersburg, are partnered together under the Awana charter #12599,  and currently offer six clubs for boys and girls from preschool age through the sixth grade.  Our goal for the Awana program is:

"To reach boys and girls (and their families) with the Gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve Him."

 The Awana program will start again in September 2008.  We meet most Wednesday evenings during the school year, unless school has been cancelled during the day.  Flag ceremony begins promptly at 6:20 pm.

The clubs meeting at Calvary Baptist Church (501 4th Street) are:

The following is a list of themes for each Wednesday night:

SEPTEMBER, 2008

3—LET’S GET FIRED UP FOR AWANA!
Moms, Dads, Boys & Girls join us for super fun kick-off party at 6:20 pm at First Congregational Church. We’ll enjoys a special visit from the Parkersburg Fire and Ambulance crews, play wacky water games and fill up on walking tacos. You’ll go home fired up and ready for Awana to begin!
**SEPTEMBER 10—MARCH 25 MISSION: BEAT IT!**
All clubs will work together to beat last years goal and pass a total of 4000 sections, if we reach our goal a special surprise will be revealed on April 1st.
**SEPTEMBER 10-24 MISSION: LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!**
T&T Clubbers that pass 6 sections, Sparks that pass 3 sections will be awarded their official dog tags on Sept. 24th.
10—Recruiting
Bring a friend to join us for the night (or the year) and earn an Awana dollar.
17—Basic Training
Clubbers who can recite the official Awana verse and tell us what Awana stands for will earn 40 extra points at handbook time.
24—Fueling Up
Bring something that helps you stay filled up with the Holy Spirit and earn and Awana dollar.

OCTOBER, 2008

**OCTOBER 1-29 MISSION: At BATtle for the Lord**
Colored teams will compete in a baseball themed challenge. For every four sections passed within your team, one run will be scored. The team with the most runs will win the challenge and claim a prize.
1—Armor On
Come dressed in armor (no weapons please) and earn an Awana dollar.
8—Present Colors
Come dressed in red, white & blue and earn an Awana dollar.
15—SPECIAL OPERATION: Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Night
(**Military Mall for Cubbies & Sparks, Att. Awards 1st Qtr.**)
Bring an item to place in Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes and earn an Awana dollar.
22—Be on Guard
Join us for a night of learning how to guard ourselves against the en emy’s schemes.
29—Support our Troops
Wear something from your favorite sports team, earn an Awana dollar.

NOVEMBER, 2008

**NOVEMBER 5-19 MISSION: Adopt-A-Club**
Our Mission: To raise $650 total from our leaders and clubbers for our Adopt-a-clubs by Nov. 19th. If we reach our goal we’ll have a pizza party on December 3rd.
5—United Forces
Have you attended a camp or been a part of a mission trip? Be prepared to share your story.
12—Homeland Security
Tell your leader about a time you helped someone while at home or in the community and earn 20 extra points.
19—SPECIAL OPERATION: Adopt-A-Club Night
Dig deep and bring your offering for our Adopt-a-club in Nepal.
26—NO AWANA THANKSGIVING BREAK

**JANUARY 7-28 MISSION: DECODE**
Each week clubbers that pass at least 2 sections will be given a puzzle piece. On Jan. 28th if you can complete your puzzle you earn 5 Awana dollars.
7—Hit the RackCome dressed in your PJ’s and earn an Awana dollar. We’ll relax and
enjoy a movie and some popcorn.14—Battle Hyms
Bring an instrument or share your favorite song and earn and Awana dollar.21—SPECIAL OPERATION: G.I. Joe Parents Night
Parents join your clubber on this special night just for you! We’ll play lots of fun parent/child games and eat yummy sloppy joes.28—Chain of Command
Tell your leader how you show respect to others and earn 20 extra pts.

**FEBRUARY 4—MARCH 25 MISSION: PHONE BOOTH GRAB**
The clubber from each grade that passes the most sections during this mission will get a chance to grab for Awana dollars.4—Corp of Engineers

APRIL, 2009

1—Honorable Discharge: Awards Night (at the Congo Church)
Parents, Grandparent and friends are invited to the First Congregational Church at 6:30 pm (clubbers need to arrive at 6:20 pm) for our closing awards ceremony!
5—T&T Year End Party
Those completing their books are invited to a year end party.
Details to be announced.
8—Cubbies & Sparks Year End Party
All Cubbies & Sparks and Leaders too are invited to a Pizza Party at the Baptist Church at 6:30 pm. Parents can pick up their children at 7:30 pm.
